Background of the Study
Digitalization of recruitment processes has transformed human resource management in the banking sector, enabling more efficient candidate sourcing, screening, and onboarding. Zenith Bank has been at the forefront of this digital transformation by implementing innovative recruitment platforms that leverage artificial intelligence, big data analytics, and automated applicant tracking systems (Okeke, 2023). These technologies streamline the recruitment cycle, reduce human error, and enhance the overall efficiency of HR operations. By digitizing recruitment processes, Zenith Bank aims to attract a broader and more diverse talent pool, ensuring that the organization is well-equipped to meet the challenges of a rapidly evolving financial landscape.
The digital recruitment system provides real-time insights into candidate performance, enabling HR managers to make data-driven decisions. This leads to faster hiring cycles and improved quality of new hires. Furthermore, the system supports enhanced candidate engagement through interactive digital interfaces, which contribute to a positive employer brand (Adebayo, 2024). However, despite these benefits, challenges remain in integrating digital recruitment tools with existing HR practices and legacy systems. This study investigates the impact of recruitment process digitalization on enhancing HR efficiency at Zenith Bank, assessing both the operational improvements and the challenges that must be addressed.
Statement of the Problem
While Zenith Bank has made significant progress in digitalizing its recruitment processes, several challenges continue to impede HR efficiency. One major issue is the integration of new digital tools with traditional HR systems, which can lead to data fragmentation and process delays (Chukwu, 2023). Additionally, the rapid pace of technological change requires continuous system upgrades and staff training, which can strain resources and disrupt established workflows. Resistance from HR personnel accustomed to conventional recruitment methods further exacerbates these challenges, potentially resulting in inconsistent application of digital processes. These issues reduce the overall effectiveness of the digital recruitment system, thereby impacting the quality of hires and HR operational efficiency.
